How to Oil Pull Part 2


  • Choose High Quality Coconut Oil, suitable for cooking

  • Place 1-2 teaspoons of Coconut Oil (Sesame or Olive may be used, but I prefer Coconut oil) in the mouth. If oil is solid you may want to dissolve it in a little heat so that it is liquid when you put it in mouth. Some people have a gag reflex that will prevent the use of using it in the solid form. If you can handle the solid form, it will melt in the mouth after a few seconds

  • Swish around mouth from 5-20 minutes “pulling “ it between the teeth. You may start off with only being able to do it for 5 minutes, but try to work up to 20 minutes because that is the “magic” number that is long enough to break through plaque and not long enough for the toxins to be reabsorbed by the body

  • Spit the oil into the trash can, not the sink or toilet. DO NOT swallow the oil, this defeats the purpose because the toxins that have been broken down, or “pulled” need to be expelled not swallowed. I keep a jar that I spit the oil in and throw it away when it is full. You will notice that when you spit the oil out it has become milky.

  • Rinse well with warm filtered water. Adding a little Natural Sea Salt is helpful in cleaning out the oil. Just use a little of the salt in warm water and rinse mouth out like you would with mouth wash.

  • After rinsing mouth, brush teeth with a natural toothpaste

You can make this a part of your morning routine a few days a week. I do the oil pulling while I dry brush and shower, but you can do it while making breakfast, getting dressed, or even better, going for a walk.

Benefits of Oil Pulling

  • Improves overall oral health thus preventing a host of diseases. Reduces cavities and bad breath.

  • Reduces Plaque-induced gingivitis

  • Whitens Teeth. This is much healthier than using strips and chemical washes which add toxins to the body. Coconut oil pulling is a completely natural way to whiten teeth

  • Detoxes the entire body. Removing toxins in the mouth before they spread to the rest of the body prevents the inflammation and disease that these germs and toxins would cause

  • Boosts the immune system. When the immune system doesn’t have to work as hard it frees up energy thus improving mood and energy levels

  • Improves the clarity of the skin. By removing toxins that would otherwise enter the body through the bloodstream gives the skin a chance to shine. Often rashes and other skin problems are completely cleared up, or at least drastically reduced

  • Reduces headaches or migraines

  • Helps with hormonal changes and balance
